Two Injured In Car Accident Receive $1.15 Million

A boyfriend and girlfriend were injured in Middlesex County when the car in which they were traveling was struck by a passenger van that ran a stop sign. Eyewitnesses to the accident said that the van driver never attempted to stop.

The man and woman both suffered numerous injuries. The 28-year-old woman suffered multiple herniated discs in her neck and back, requiring disc replacement and fusion surgery. She also suffered a concussion and was treated for post-concussion syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety. Experts retained by Maggs McDermott & DiCicco stated that she would never be able to return to gainful employment, resulting in a lost wage claim of $650,000.

The 30-year-old man suffered severe injuries to his face and head, left shoulder, low back and neck including a concussion with post-traumatic migraines and post-concussion syndrome with both cognitive and emotional effects. He required facial surgeries and will have lifelong breathing problems. He also required shoulder and spinal surgeries. He is not expected to make a full recovery and was rendered permanently disabled resulting in a lost wage claim of $550,000.

The driver of the van alleged that neither of our clients were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The owner of the van, an adult day care company, agreed to pay our clients $1.15 million. “We are very pleased with the result, especially in light of the allegation that our clients were not wearing their seatbelts,” stated Victoria Adornetto, the firm attorney on the case.
