$780,000 Resolves Auto and Underinsured Motorist Claims
An Ocean County woman agreed to settle her lawsuit following three motor vehicle collisions dating back ten years for $780,000. The lawsuit involved two separate Underinsured Motorist (UIM) claims as well as a third-party action against one of the wrongdoers.
A 58-year-old woman was hit from behind twice in one year, sustaining severe neck and back injuries requiring multiple surgeries. Four years later, she was again hit from behind and aggravated her previously injured neck and back and required a subsequent surgery to her spine.
Maggs McDermott & DiCicco represented the client for all three accidents from inception to completion. $125,000 was initially recovered from the wrongdoers in the first two accidents. Ultimately, the client recovered a total of $780,000 from the wrongdoers as well as from her insurance carrier for her UIM claims.
According to Charles R. Mathis IV, the Maggs McDermott & DiCicco attorney on the case, UIM coverage, is purchased with your automobile insurance along with bodily injury and personal injury protection coverage. Having UIM insurance coverage can protect you and your family in the event you are involved in a motor vehicle collision with an individual or entity who is uninsured or only maintains limited insurance coverage.
