Howell Woman Receives $2,230,000.00 to Settle Auto Injuries

A 44 year old Howell Township woman was seriously injured when a garbage truck owned by FCI Transport, Inc., Freehold, New Jersey, struck her Ford Explorer as the truck was backing down a dirt road.

The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle by first responders. Thereafter, she was taken by ambulance to CentraState Medical Center where she complained of pain in her neck and back.

It was ultimately determined that she suffered a disc herniation at L5-S1, a disc herniation at C5-6, and a tear of the lateral meniscus of her right knee. She also suffered neurological injuries, including: chronic headaches, vertigo, and severe sensitivity to light and noise. 

The victim underwent a fusion at L4-5, a lateral meniscectomy of the right knee, and a disc replacement at C5-6. 

At the time of the accident, the woman was employed as a bus driver for the Freehold Regional High School District. She was unable to return to work after the accident due to her injuries. She turned to Maggs & McDermott to help her get her life back.

The Firm hired a number of experts including an economist who calculated that the victim had suffered economic losses of $1,176,978.00 as a result of the accident.

After extended litigation, the woman and her husband, agreed to accept $2,230,000.00 to fully settle their claims against FCI.
